Three members of a family were killed as their private car crashed into the railing of a railway flyover on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Ziaul Haque, 55, his son Embadul Haque, 25, of Digholia in Khulna and Emdadaul’s brother–in-law Sajjad Mollah, 35, of Narail.

Md Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Highway Police Station, said the accident that took place around 4am left the trio dead on the spot and two other people injured.

The tragedy struck them when the family members were returning home after receiving Emdadul, an expatriate living in Singapore, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital upon his return, he said.

The injured were taken to Gopalganj General Hospital, the OC said, adding that the bodies were handed over to their relatives.
