Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have reached 2,57,600 with the detection of 2,487 more infections in the past 24 hours till Sunday (9 August).
Besides, the deadly virus claimed the lives of 34 more people during the period to take the total death toll in the country to 3,399.
Of the new deceased, 31 are men and 3 are women. Among the total dead, 2,686 or 79.02 percent are men while 713 or 20.98 are women.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the information in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon.
She said 1,766 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 1,48,370.
Prof Nasima said 10,759 samples were tested in 84 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 1,260,319 samples have so far been tested in the country.
In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 23.12 percent while the infection rate 20.44 against total tests carried out so far, she said.
The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 57.60 while the mortality rate is 1.32 percent.
On Saturday (8 August), Bangladesh reported 32 deaths from coronavirus and 2,611 cases.
