Former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradip Kumar Das who was arrested over the sensational killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan has allegedly grabbed a big pond in his village home in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram district.

His wife also owns a number of ponds in the locality.

However, no one dares to speak against them as they are influential in the area.

It was alleged that although Pradip’s family owns a portion of the 2-acre pond at Kunjuri village, they captured the entire water body worth of Tk 1.5 crore.

Wishing anonymity, a local said Pradip bought a part of one of the partners and grabbed the portions of others through intimidation.

Pradip’s family is influential in the locality as his three brothers are in the administration.

So, no one dares to speak against them.

Belal Hossain, chairman of Sariatali union parishad, said there are a number of ponds in the name of Pradip’s wife where fish is cultivated.

However, Pradip’s elder brother Ranjit Das claimed that the pond was leased out in the name of his brother Dilip Das.
