Another police officer has died from coronavirus, taking the number of fatalities in Bangladesh Police to 67.

Sumon Ali, 40, inspector of Baraigram Police Station in Natore, succumbed to the virus at the Central Police Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday night, said Superintendent of Police of the district Liton Kumar Saha.

He said Sumon was infected with coronavirus while providing legal aid to common people.

His condition worsened while undergoing treatment in Natore and later he was sent to the Dhaka hospital.

The police officer was moved to the intensive care unit following further deterioration of his condition where he died.

With this a total of 67 members of Bangladesh Police have so far died from coronavirus.
