A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Monday seeking its order to provide Tk 50 lakh as compensation to each family of the Narayanganj mosque explosion victims.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Mar-e-Um Khandaker filed the writ in the form of public interest litigation.
Power and energy secretary, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd authorities and the district administration of Narayanganj among others have been made respondents in the writ.
The writ will be placed with the HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice M Khairul Alam for hearing, said the petitioner.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the Narayanganj mosque explosion has risen to 26 with the death of another victim on Sunday night.
Monir Farazi, 30, succumbed to his burn injuries at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital around 11:15pm, said its coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen.
Eleven burn victims who are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital are also stated to be in a critical condition.
Police and witnesses said the explosion took place around 8:45pm during Esha prayers on Friday when the devotees just finished their prayers.
The explosion took place due to the leakage in the gas pipeline.
Around 40 devotees suffered burn injuries in the incident.
They were first taken to Sadar Hospital from where 37 were sent to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Meanwhile, the Fire Service and Civil Defence, district administration, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd, CID and Dhaka Power Supply and Distribution Compnay Ltd formed separate investigation committees to look into the incident.
