Omar Ali Sheikh, father of Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam who along her daughter was injured in an attack by miscreants, has been taken to Dhaka for better treatment.
He was admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital on Sunday morning.
An ambulance of Rangpur City Corporation carrying Omar Ali started for Dhaka from Rangpur Medical College Hospital around 11pm on Saturday. His wife was accompanying him.
Doctors advised for shifting him to Dhaka as he had problems in tendons of the head.
Meanwhile, police have claimed that the gardener of the upazila administration had attacked the UNO and her father.
Gardener Rabiul Islam confessed to his crime, said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police (Rangpur Range) Debdas Bhattacharjee.
At a press conference at the Dinajpur police super's office on Saturday, he said Rabiul carried out the attack with the help of night guard Palash.
However, it was still not clear why he launched the attack, the DIG said, adding that all the police units were working to divulge the mystery.
Meanwhile, a Dinajpur court on Saturday placed Rabiul on a six-day remand for interrogation over the attack on the UNO.
Miscreants stormed the official residence of the UNO in the early hours of of September 3 and beat her and her father Omar Ali with hammers, leaving them injured.
They were first taken to Sadar Hospital from where Wahida, 35, was shifted to a Rangpur hospital where she was given treatment at its intensive care unit.
The UNO was airlifted to Dhaka and admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital on September 3. She underwent the brain surgery on the same day.
She is now apparently out of danger as she is moving her right hand which got paralysed after the attack.
Stitches on her head were almost removed and the UNO can also take solid food instead of soft one.
