Bangladesh logged 1,812 more coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours till Monday to raise the total to 339,332.

Besides, the death toll from the virus has reached 4,759 after 26 more Covid-19 patients died during the period.

Of the new deceased, 22 are men and four are women. Among the total dead, 3,708 or 77.92 percent are men while 1,051 or 22.08 percent are women.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.

As per the press release, 2,512 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 243,155.  

During the period, 14,216 samples were tested in 94 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,742,696 samples have so far been tested in the country.

The positivity rate -- an indicator of the prevalence of the disease -- was recorded at 12.75 percent in the last hours while the overall infection rate is 19.47 percent.

Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 71.66 percent while the mortality rate is 1.40 percent.

On Sunday, Bangladesh recorded 31 deaths from coronavirus and 1,476 cases after testing 12,999 samples.

Meanwhile, the death toll from coronavirus around the world has jumped to 928,281 as of Monday morning.

Besides, 29,182,605 people have so far been infected with the virus in different countries, according to Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 7,227,163 patients, 7,166,696 are in mild condition while 60,467 are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 21,027,161 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 6,708,458 and 198,520 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 4,845,003 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 131,663.
