The National Advisory Committee on Covid-19 has approved in principle the antigen and antibody tests to detect more and more suspects as the number of PCR tests is insufficient in Bangladesh.
At a virtual meeting held on Thursday with its President Dr Mohammod Shahidullah in the chair, the committee also put forward some suggestions about procuring and distributing Covid-19 vaccine quickly.
It recommended booking vaccine in advance so that Bangladesh does not lag behind other countries in the competition for procuring the vaccine.
The committee chief suggested that vaccine be distributed institutionally once it is available and measures be taken to monitor adverse impact of vaccine.
Mentioning that the number of tests in PCR labs is too insufficient, the committee recommended going for antigen and antibody tests.
It advised for increasing the number of samples and enhancing the quality of tests.
