Covid-19: Bangladesh reports 1,567 more cases, 32 new deaths

Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have reached 347,372 with the registration of 1,567 more infections over the last 24 hours till Saturday.

Besides, the virus took the lives of 32 more people during the period to raise the death tally to 4,913.

Of the new deceased, 25 are men and seven are women. Among the total dead, 3,829 or 77.94 percent are men while 1,084 or 22.06 percent are women.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.

As per the press release, 2,051 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 254,386.  

During the period, 13,170 samples were tested in 94 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,809,679 samples have so far been tested in the country.

The positivity rate an indicator of the prevalence of the disease was recorded at 11.90 percent in the last hours while the overall infection rate is 19.20 percent.

Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 73.23 percent while the mortality rate is 1.41 percent, one of the lowest in the world.

On Friday, Bangladesh reported 22 deaths and 1,541 infections from coronavirus after testing 12,730 samples.

Meanwhile, the global death tally from coronavirus has reached 956,396 as of Saturday morning.

Besides, 30,691,232 have so far been sickened with the virus around the world, according to Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 7,401,027 patients, 7,339,629 are in mild condition while 61,398 are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 22,333,809 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 6,925,941 and 203,171 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 5,305,475 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 135,857.
