Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have surged past 3.5 lakh to reach 350,621 after a fresh spike of 1,705 in the last 24 hours till Monday.
Bangladesh is on the 15th position on the list of nations worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic. Only 14 countries have confirmed cases more than that of Bangladesh.
Besides, 40 more Covid-19 patients lost their battle against the virus during the period to take the death tally to 4,979.
Of the new deceased, 27 are men and 13 are women. Among the total dead, 3,873 or 77.79 percent are men while 1,106 or 22.21 percent are women.
Coronavirus Update in Bangladesh

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 2,152 more patients recuperated from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours to bring the total recoveries to 258,717.
During the period, 13,053 samples were tested in 99 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,834,323 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate -- an indicator of the prevalence of the disease -- was recorded at 13.06 percent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 19.11 percent.
The recovery rate continued to rise in Bangladesh reaching 73.79 percent while the mortality rate is 1.42 percent, one of the lowest in the world.
On Sunday, Bangladesh recorded 26 deaths and 1,544 infections from coronavirus after testing 11,591 samples.
Meanwhile, a total of 965,065 people have succumbed to the coronavirus around the world as of Monday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far infected 31,231,475 others in different countries, according to Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 7,444,150 patients, 7,378,181 are in mild condition while 61,238 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 22,822,260 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 7,004,768 and 204,118 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 5,485,612 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 136,895.
