Attorney general’s condition ‘critical’

The condition of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam who has been undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka after being infected with coronavirus has been described as critical.

Family sources said his lungs were not working from Monday morning.

Earlier on Monday night, Law Minister Anisul Huq said Mahbubey’s lungs were not working. “His condition is not so good. He is not out of danger.”

On September 18, the attorney general was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital following deterioration of his condition.

Mahbubey Alam was admitted to the CMH on September 4 after being diagnosed with coronavirus.

He, however, tested negative for the virus on September 20, said Advocate Masud Mia.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is constantly inquiring about his condition.
