A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered for confiscating the moveable and immovable property and freeze two bank accounts of suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Bazlur Rashid in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
At the same time, Judge of the Special Judge Court-5 Iqbal Hossain denied him bail in the case and deferred the charge-framing hearing until October 22.
On September 1 last, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes accepted the charge-sheet against the suspended DIG and fixed September 22 for charge-framing hearing after transferring the case to the special court.
ACC Deputy Director M Nasir Uddin, also the investigation officer of the case, pressed charges against Bazlur Rashid on August 26 last.
According to the charge-sheet, Bazlur Rashid accumulated illegal wealth worth Tk 3.14 crore.
Following interrogation, the ACC arrested the DIG on October 20 last year on charge of accumulating money illegally.
