A Dhaka court on Tuesday accepted charge-sheets against expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Samrat in two cases filed under the Arms Act and the Narcotics Control Act.
At the same time, the court fixed November 30 for the charge-framing hearing in the cases after rejecting the bail pleas of Samrat, sacked president of Dhaka South unit of Jubo League.
Samrat was produced before the court amid tight security. His supporters gathered on the court premises.
On November 6 last year, sub-inspector Shekhar Chandra Mallick of Rapid Action Battalion-1 (Rab-1) pressed charges against the expelled Jubo League leader in the arms case while SI Abdul Halim of Rab-1 submitted another charge-sheet against Samrat and Enamul Haque Arman, also sacked vice-president of Jubo League’s Dhaka South unit, on December 9, 2019.
Rab members arrested Samrat and Enamul from Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla on October 6 last year.
Later, the elite force conducted a drive at Samrat’s Kakrail office when two hides of kangaroo, drugs and arms were recovered.
