Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Dhaka University (DU) authorities are going to decentralise their entry tests and cut the total marks to 100 for the 2020-21 academic year.
Admissions tests that used to take place in Dhaka will now be held at universities or big colleges in the divisional cities.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the Deans' Committee on Tuesday which was chaired by Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman.
The DU Pro-VC Prof Dr Muhammad Samad told Somoy News that the entry tests will be held in eight divisional cities and there will be DU teachers at the exam centres.
He said there will be no compromise with the standard of the question papers.
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will not be held this year due to the coronavirus prevalence.
The results of these tests will be published in December on the basis of the results of the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent, and Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations.
The university admission process will begin later.
