Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said BNP loses before it takes party in any election.
“BNP speaks of democracy. But it is afraid of the electoral process. Their political confidence has hit the bottom,” he said.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was inaugurating a training centre of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation at Gabtali.
He said BNP’s participation in the election is mere a showoff. “They don’t go to polling centres on the voting day. So, they’ve lost voters’ trust. Its activists have also lost their confidence in leaders as they sit at their residences after calling a movement.”
About the allegation of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that the government wants to keep their party away from the politics, Quader said BNP is getting alienated from people for its evil politics. “BNP is putting the blame on the government to cover up its failure.”
He said the government expects an active role from the opposition parties to strengthen the democratic process.
