A Sylhet court has sent suspended constable Titu Chandra Das to jail in a case filed over torturing Raihan Ahmed to death in a police outpost in Sylhet.

Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the order when the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) produced him before his court on completion of his 2nd term three-day remand on Wednesday.

On October 20, Titu was shown arrested in the case filed over the incident and he was placed on a five-day remand on the same day.

The PBI also took another suspended constable Harunur Rashid on a five-day remand after showing him arrested in the case.

Titu and Harun were on duty at the police outpost when Raihan was tortured to death.

Meanwhile, the investigating agency arrested another man, Sheikh Saidur Rahman, over the murder of the young man.

Raihan was tortured to death at Bandarbazar Police Outpost in Sylhet city on October 11.

His wife filed the case in this regard.

Five policemen, including in-charge of the police outpost sub-inspector Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, were suspended and three others withdrawn over the incident.

However, Akbar fled on October 13 and he still remained traceless.
