The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has arranged a gunman for ensuring the security of ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan following a death threat issued for his participation in a Kali puja programme in Kolkata.
He was seen being guarded by the gunman during training at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Shakib recently joined the Kali puja programme in Kolkata, angering many.
They criticised and trolled Shakib in social networking site Facebook for joining the puja programme.
In a Facebook live at 12:07am on Monday, a young man, Mohsin Talukdar, went further and threatened to hack the all-rounder to death, saying he would come to Dhaka on foot to accomplish his job if necessary.
He also used abuses on Shakib.
In another Facebook live later, the youth, however, regretted his comments, saying he made so out of short temper.
He also advised Shakib to offer apology through a press conference for taking part in the puja programme.
Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested the youth Mohsin, son of Azad Box Talukdar of Shahpur Talukdarpara in Sylhet Sadar upazila, from Sunamganj district on Tuesday morning.
Besides, Shakib in a video posted on his YouTube channel offered apology for what he said if anyone got hurt for his participation in the puja programme.
