Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said the government has adopted a strict stance against irregularities.
“Drives are being carried out wherever irregularities are taking place, including the health sector,” he said while virtually addressing a ‘Meet the Press’ arranged by Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said the party identity cannot be a shield for a criminal.
He said BNP takes part in any election only to make it controversial. “They’re reluctant about the election,” he said, adding that democracy is strengthened when there is a strong opposition party.
The ruling party leader also alleged that BNP has now resorted to the politics of complaints after failing in the election as well as movement.
