Mentioning that the politics of vengeance is not good for democracy, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said their party does not practise it.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was inaugurating the BRTC double-decker bus service on Mirpur-Narayanganj route virtually from his official residence.
He said democracy is a flourishing process and it flourishes with the participation of and nursing by all political parties.
The ruling party leader, however, lamented that BNP is far away from playing the role needed to take democracy forward although it talks of democracy.
He said BNP takes part in an election only to make it questionable.
Describing Awami League as the most tolerant party in the country, Quader said it endured the brutality of August 15, inhumanity of November 3, August 21 grenade attack and attempts on the life of its chief Sheikh Hasina 20 times.
He also alleged that BNP introduced the politics of terrorism, conspiracy and killing in the country and the party is exercising it.
The minister dismissed BNP’s allegation that the government has resorted to enforced disappearance to silence dissents.
