A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Monir Hossain alias Golden Monir who was arrested during a raid by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on his residence in the city’s Merul Badda area on a seven-day remand in two cases.
The court passed the order when police produced him before it seeking remand in the cases— one filed under the Arms Act and the other under the Special Powers Act.
Earlier in the morning, three cases were filed against Monir Hossain by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).
The elite force lodged the cases –- one under the Narcotics Control Act, another under the Arms Act and the last under the Special Powers Act –- with Badda Police Station, said its Inspector (Operations) Yeasin Ali.
Rab members arrested Monir on Saturday morning following overnight raid on his residence and business establishments.
During the drive which started on Friday night, led by Rab Executive Magistrate Palash Kumar Basu, Tk 1.09 crore in cash, huge gold ornaments, five luxury cars, drugs and a firearm were seized.
Monir used to finance a political party, claimed Rab.
