Mentioning that a communal force is creating unwanted debate over the installation of the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said they might have a different aim.

"Imaginary explanations over Bangabandhu's sculpture are a challenge to the spirit of Liberation War and the country's culture," he said while addressing a press conference at his official residence.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said a fundamentalist quarter is giving misinterpretation over the sculpture of Bangabandhu to spread hatred among religious people.

He also warned against considering government's liberalism as weakness. “No comment against the spirit of the Liberation War, constitution and the state will be tolerated.”

The minister urged the people who believe in the country's independence and Liberation War spirit to build united resistance against all the evil efforts.

He the head of the government earlier said there will be no law that conflicts the Quran and Sunnah. “So, those who are making ill attempts to create an issue to destroy the country's religious tolerance will be dealt with an iron hand,” he said.
