Mentioning that a sculpture and an idol are not the same thing, State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque on Sunday said those who are waging a movement against the installation of Bangabandhu’s sculptures are doing so without understanding anything.
He made the remarks while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.
The state minister said there are sculptures everywhere in the world. “I saw sculptures in Egypt and the Arab nations, too. Those who are waging a movement will have to understand that sculptures and idols are not the same thing.”
All the problems will be resolved if they can be made understand of it, he said.
The government has taken a move to establish a 26-foot high sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Suhrwardy Udyan.
However, different quarters are opposing the move.
