The number of both deaths and infections from coronavirus reported in a day set a new record in the US on Wednesday and hospitalisations also reached an all-time high.

The country registered 203,427 cases over a span of 24 hours, taking the total caseload to 14,313,941, according to Worldometer.

Besides, record 2,831 deaths were reported during the period to bring the death tally to 279,865.

Over 1 lakh patients were in US hospitals on Wednesday, according to the COVID Tracking Project.

With this, the US reported over 2 lakh coronavirus cases in a single day for the second time.

Earlier on November 20, it recorded highest 201,083 infections over a 24-hour period.
