The global death toll from coronavirus has surged past 16 lakh to reach 1,601,168 after 12,731 more virus-related deaths were registered over the last 24 hours till 10am on Saturday.
Besides, the world saw record 717,024 cases during the period pushing the infections to 71,437,330 globally, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 20,198,937 patients, 20,092,342 are in mild condition while 106,595 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 49,637,225 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 16,295,458 and 302,750 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 9,827,026 and third highest fatalities of 142,662 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 180,453 and third highest cases of 6,836,313.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 487,849 cases and 6,986 deaths from coronavirus.
Coronavirus has affected 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
