The closure of all educational institutions might be extended further amid the coronavirus prevalence, says Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury.
The closure might see a one-month extension, according to the Education Ministry.
It would be decided as per the suggestions of the technical committee formed by the Education Ministry whether the closure would be extended, Mohibul said on Tuesday.
He said schools, closes and universities will remain closed if the situation does not improve.
Educational institutions will be opened on a limited scale once the situation is under control, the deputy minister said, adding that the decision in this regard will be announced before December 19.
On November 12 last, the government extended the closure of all educational institutions until December 19 due to the coronavirus prevalence.
On March 23, the government declared general holidays from March 26, aiming to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.
Earlier on March 16, the government closed all the educational institutions to contain the virus.
Later, the closure was extended in several phases.
However, the government withdrew the general holidays and lifted shutdown from May 31.
Meanwhile, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent, Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC), Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee and annual examinations at the secondary level have been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
