The daily deaths from coronavirus in the US reached a record high on Wednesday as the country reported 3,486 deaths, highest in a single day anywhere in the world since the pandemic.

The country has so far recorded 314,577 virus fatalities, according to Worldometer.

Earlier on December 9, it registered 3,263 deaths in a 24-hour period.

Meanwhile, the US reported 246,996fresh cases, second highest in a 24-hour period, from the coronavirus over the last 24 fours to bring the total to 17,392,618.

On December 11, the country registered highest 247,414 cases in a single day.
