Referring to the show-cause notice served by BNP on its Vice-chairman and gallantry award-winning freedom fighter Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said it has disrespected freedom fighters and the War of Liberation through its act.

He made the remarks while addressing a programme virtually from his official residence in the capital.

On December 14, a show-cause notice, signed by BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, was served on Hafizuddin for breaching the party discipline.

In his reaction, Hafizuddin on Saturday vented his anger at the way he was show-caused and alleged nomination and committee trade inside the party.

He described the process of sending the show-cause notice as the deviation of the protocol and courtesy.

At the same time, the BNP leader said the language of the notice was attacking and disrespectful while the notice was full of false allegations. “I’ve been discharging the duty of one of the vice-chairmen for the last 22 years. I felt disrespected for seeking explanation in such an attacking and hard language through a joint secretary general.”
