The mother of the two children aged below three, who were alienated from their parents for five days following their incarceration, was released from jail on bail on Thursday.
Wasima Khatun, mother of Yasin, aged two and half, and Tumpa, aged three and half, walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur in the morning.
Earlier on Wednesday, the High Court granted bail to her.
However, the bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman did not grant bail to the children’s father, Mohammad Tofail.
On Tuesday, a Dhaka court denied bail to the couple when the two children were seen crying at the court for their parents.
Neighbours took them to the court as they have no relatives to look after them.
Wasima’s mother Momena Begum filed the case against them on charge of theft and beating her following a family feud.
The couple had been in jail since Friday last. Later, the two children took shelter in their neighbour’s house at Bangshal.
They went to the court on Tuesday with their neighbours when Judge M Mamunur Rashid denied bail to their parents.
The court also show-caused an on-duty police officer over their crying at the court.
