Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested six members of an international snake venom smuggling gang along with Tk 75 crore venom from the city’s Dakkhinkhan area early Friday.

The arrestees are M Masud Rana, 24, M Safir Uddin Shanu, 50, M Tamjidul Islam Monir, 34, M Alamgir Hossain, 26, Firoza Begum, 57, and Asma Begum, 42.

A team of Rab-2 conducted a drive at Gulbar Munshi Sharani Road around 3:20am on information that members of the gang were staying there with huge snake venom for smuggling.

The Rab members arrested them while they were trying to flee sensing their presence.

Later, 8.96 kgs of snake venom in jars were recovered from their possession.
