The next Secondary School Certificate and (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations will be deferred due to the coronavirus prevalence.
The SSC and equivalent might be held in June while the HSC and its equivalent ones in July or August.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni came up with the information while addressing a virtual press conference on Tuesday.
About the results of this year’s HSC examination, she said an ordinance will be promulgated to this end.
An eight-member advisory committee is working to prepare the results, Dipu Moni said, adding that angered students can file appeal against the results.
At a press conference on October 7, the education minister said the HSC and equivalent examinations would not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Students would be evaluated based on the results of their Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, she had said, adding that the results would be published by December.
The minister said educational institutions that remained closed due to the coronavirus pandemic might be opened in February next if the situation remains under control.
She said classes might be held from February to May if the coronavirus situation remains under control. “By this time, previous syllabuses will have to be completed.”
Dipu Moni also said next SSC and equivalent examinations may be taken with short syllabuses. “Work on the short syllabuses is underway. Details about this will be informed by January 15 next,” she said.
On March 16, the government closed all the educational institutions to contain the virus.
Later, the closure was extended in several phases.
On December 18, the government extended the closure of educational institutions until January 16.
However, Qawmi madrasas remain outside the purview of the closure, it said.
Meanwhile, the HSC and equivalent, Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC), Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee and annual examinations at the secondary level have been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
