The government has designated seven residential hotels for the 14-day mandatory quarantine of those return from the UK following the emergence of a new variant of coronavirus there.
The Health and Family Welfare Ministry sent a letter to the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry on Thursday in this regard.
The seven hotels are Hotel Omni Residency, Best Western Plus Maya, Hotel Grace-21, Hotel Afford Inn, White Palace Hotel, Marino Royal Hotel and Momento Hotel.
It was mentioned in the letter that the flight operation of the UK with the rest of the world remained suspended following the detection of a more contagious new variant of coronavirus there.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued a directive on December 28 to ensure so that there is no transmission of that virus in Bangladesh.
The seven hotels were fixed through the Directorate General of Health Services where the UK returnees will have to stay at their own cost.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh issued a circular on December 29 in this regard.
As per the circular, every passenger arriving from January 1 to 15 must remain in a 14-day mandatory quarantine apart from showing Covid-negative certificate.
