Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged Bangladeshi expatriates who have returned home during the coronavirus pandemic to engage in self-employment without being frustrated.

She made the call while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the International Migrants Day programme.

The prime minister joined the programme held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre remotely from her official residence Ganobhaban.

Sheikh Hasina said coronavirus has stalled everything. “As a result, many are losing jobs. We’re giving incentives to those have returned home. They can work if they want. So, work in the country without being frustrated.”

She said the government has set up training centres for expatriates and arranged loan for them apart from other facilities.

The prime minister urged job-seekers to go aboard after mastering skills.
