Health authorities in Bangladesh on Thursday reported 1,007 fresh coronavirus infections over the last 24 hours to take the total caseload to 519,905.
Besides, total fatalities from the virus, officially known as Sars-CoV-2 which is responsible for Covid-19, have climbed to 7,718 with the deaths of 31 more people during the period.
Of the new deceased, 21 are men and 10 are women. Among the total dead, 5,867 are men while 1,851 are women.
Currently, there are 47,741 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 966 more people recovered from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries to 464,446.
The recovery rate also continued to improve in the country standing at 89.33 per cent.
During the period, 15,381 samples were tested in 180 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,317,810 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate -- an indicator of the prevalence of the disease -- was recorded at 6.55 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 15.67 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.48 per cent.
On Wednesday, the country registered 17 deaths and 978 infections from coronavirus after testing 15,544 samples with a positivity rate of 6.29 per cent.
Meanwhile, even with the coronavirus rollout in many countries, the world is buckling under the coronavirus as it registered record cases and deaths during the last 24 hours till 10am on Thursday.
Some 15,380 deaths were recorded during the period to take the global death tally to 1,890,847, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Besides, the virus has so far sickened 87,640,097 people, including 806,510 during the 24 hours, around the world.
Of the currently infected 22,618,123 patients, 22,510,120 are in mild condition while 108,003 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 63,131,127 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 21,857,616 and 369,990 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,395,938 and third highest fatalities of 150,372 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 199,043 and third highest cases of 7,874,539.
