Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said those are running in the local government polls as independent candidates defying the party’s decision will not get nomination in the future.
He made the remarks during a briefing at his official residence in the morning.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, urged all to refrain from activities that go against the discipline and interests of the party.
Mentioning that Awami League is a big party where it is natural to have many eligible contenders for a post in any election, he said those deprived have the opportunity to be evaluated organisationally.
Quader said nominations are finalised taking into consideration candidates’ competency, dedication and popularity apart from different survey reports.
Mentioning that some responsible leaders and public representatives are patronising rebel candidates, he asked them to refrain from anti-organisation activities, warning that stern action will be taken if otherwise.
