The government is thinking about extending the closure of all educational institutions due to the coronavirus pandemic, said State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain on Saturday.
He said primary schools will not be opened until the coronavirus situation becomes normal. “However, the prime minister will take the final decision about extending the closure.”
Meanwhile, an official of the Education Ministry said the closure of educational institutions might be extended by 15 days to one month considering the overall situation. “The decision in this regard can be known within a day or two.”
On December 18 last, the government extended the closure of all educational institutions until January 16 due to the coronavirus prevalence.
However, Qawmi madrasas remained outside the purview of the closure.
On March 16, the government closed all the educational institutions to contain the virus.
Later, the closure was extended in several phases.
Meanwhile, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent, Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC), Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee and annual examinations at the secondary were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
