Bangladesh to begin Covid vaccination in first week of Feb

Bangladesh is going to get the Covid-19 vaccine from India by January 21-25, said Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The first consignment of 50 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca will arrive in the country from the Serum Institute of India by the time, it said.

The vaccination programme will begin in the first week of February within one week after the arrival of the vaccine, said DGHS Director General Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam on Monday.

He made the disclosure while speaking at a press conference on the detailed plan of the deployment of coronavirus vaccine in the country.

The registration of the probable vaccine recipients will begin on January 26 and the virus receivers will have to fulfill six conditions to get the jab.

In the first phase, 50 lakh people will receive the Covid-19 vaccine instead of 2.5 lakh as the vaccine can be administered eight weeks apart.
