A person was killed and several other people were injured in a clash between supports of Awami League-backed and its rebel councillor candidates in the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) polls on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Ajgar Ali Babul, 55.

The skirmish took place at Mogpukurpar of Pathantuli under Double Mooring Police Station around 8pm.

Officer-in-charge of Double Mooring Police Station Sadip Kumar Das said the supporters of AL-backed councillor contestant from ward-28 Nazrul Islam Bahadur and its rebel candidate Abdul Quader clashed.

Of the injured, Mahbub received bullet wounds.

Bahadur claimed both Babul and Mahbub as his activists.
