A Bangladeshi youth was shot to death by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Jhalangi border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Azad, 30, son of Joynul Abedin of Jhalangi village under Srirampur union.
Sources at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and locals said a group of 5-6 people, including Azad, went to the bordering area to bring cattle from Indian traders in the early hours.
BSF members from Doradabri camp under Cooch Behar district opened fire on them.
Azad suffered bullet wounds to the head and neck, leaving him seriously injured.
He died on the way to a Rangpur hospital.
Commander of Jhalangi BGB camp under BGB battalion-61 Lt Col Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter.
