A Dhaka court on Tuesday dismissed one of the two defamation cases filed against former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon for making disparaging comments on his successor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah turned down the case filed by Kazi Anisur Rahman.

Meanwhile, the plaintiff of the other case withdrew it.

The judge granted a petition filed by Advocate Md Sarwar Alam seeking withdrawal of the case.

On January 11, the two defamation cases were filed with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury.
