Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday warned party leaders who are contesting in the municipal polls as rebel candidates of dire consequences.
While addressing the first meeting of the AL Subcommittee on Liberation War Affairs at the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue, he said the ruling party will not make any compromise with the dissidents.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, urged them not to engage in anti-organisation activities and break party discipline.
He said there was a 90 per cent voter turnout in the municipal polls as people responded to the election.
The ruling party leader said freedom fighters divided after the Liberation War, underscoring the need for bringing them under a single roof.
He said anti-liberation forces will have to be resisted.
