Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday warned that stern action will be taken if any party leader and elected representative work against the ‘Boat’ symbol in the next phases of municipal polls.
“Rebels and their patrons will in no way be spared,” he said while addressing a discussion organised by AL Subcommittee on Labour and Manpower at the party’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, joined the event remotely from his official residence.
He said the AL Local Government Nomination Board will sit in a meeting at Ganobhaban on January 30 with Prime Minister and party chief Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The ruling party leader said successes and achievements of the government and the country have caused heartburn for BNP. “The present government has taken a stern stance against corruption and doesn’t hesitate to punish offenders.”
He said BNP has no task other than spreading falsehood and resorting to blind criticisms.
