Indian intelligence agency had link with 1975 incident: Zafrullah

Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury on Sunday claimed that the Indian intelligence agency had a link with the 1975 incident.

He made the claim while speaking at a programme organised by Nagorik Oikya at the Jatiya Press Club.

Dr Zafrullah said there were problems as Bangabandhu had not always listened to the Indian intelligence agency.

He also claimed that Indian intelligence agency has now kept the prime minister “confined”.

Turning to Covid-19 vaccine, the Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder said the jab procured by the government will be looted if it is imported at the private level.

He said the government is making a mistake deciding to allow private sector to import vaccine.

Zafrullah said Tk 1,200 crore has been released for importing vaccine without any tender. “This is not right. Begum Zia is serving jail term for Tk 200 crore. The matter of Tk 1,200 crore will also come to the fore one day.”

Earlier on Friday, he said people would be interested to take Covid-19 vaccine if the vaccination begins with administering the jab to the prime minister.

Dr Zafrullah said the government is giving financial facilities to a certain company allowing it to import vaccine with any tender and investment. “Per doses of vaccine of $2 will be sold to people at Tk $5 to give the company facilities.”
