Bangladesh on Sunday recorded 473 more infections from coronavirus over the last 24 hours, bringing the national caseload to 531,799.
Besides, the death toll from the deadly pathogen has reached 8,023 with 20 more fatalities reported during the period.
Of the new deceased, 16 are men and four are women. Among the total dead, 6,080 are men while 1,943 are women.
Currently, there are 47,363 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 514 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 476,413.
The recovery rate also stands at 89.59 per cent.
During the period, 14,169 samples were tested in 200 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,555,558 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate -- an indicator of the prevalence of the disease -- was recorded at 3.34 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.96 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.51 per cent.
On Saturday, the country recorded 22 deaths and 436 infections from coronavirus after testing 11,115 samples with a positivity rate of 3.12 per cent.
Meanwhile, total global deaths from coronavirus have jumped to 2,130,422 as of Sunday noon.
Besides, the virus has so far sickened 99,329,286 people around the world, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 25,827,370 patients, 25,717,108 are in mild condition while 110,651 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 71,371,105 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 25,566,789 and 427,635 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,655,435 and third highest fatalities of 153,376 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 216,475 and third highest cases of 8,816,254.
