The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday stayed a High Court order granting bail to Rashedul Haque Chisti, son of former Chairman of Farmers Bank Audit Committee Mahbubul Haque Chisti in a graft case.
A four-member bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed the order.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan who stood for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) said the apex court stayed the bail order for four weeks asking it to file regular appeal by the time.
On June 2 last, the HC granted bail to Rashed Chisti on conditions.
Later, the ACC moved the Appellate Division against the bail order.
The trial court granted bail to him in number of cases on May 19 last year.
A case was filed with Gulshan Police Station on April 10, 2018 against Mahbub, his wife Rosy Chisti, son Rashed, Farmers Bank First President Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan, Senior Vice-president Zia Uddin Ahmed and Manager of Gulshan corporate branch and current Senior Executive Vice-president Delwar Hossain on charges of embezzling Tk 160 crore.
