Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday described the Al Jazeera report on Prime Minister Sheikh as motivated and an ugly manifestation of propaganda.
"The mass media is working independently in Bangladesh and they're also criticising the government. The Al Jazeera report on Sheikh Hasina is deplorable whereas so many vibrant media outlets have not found any information," he said.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was briefing reporters at his official residence.
He said those who are spreading anti-state propaganda and giving provocation sitting in London have the link with the report. "People think the report is based in London."
Mentioning that the Sheikh Hasina government has taken a tough stance against corruption, the ruling party leader said laws in Bangladesh are taking their own course independently.
He said the government has already made its zero-tolerance policy on corruption through the purge.
Quader said the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is working as per its own legal power and authority.
He said liking the deeds of an individual with the prime minister puts the principles of journalism into question. "This is not proper journalism. People are by Sheikh Hasina.
The AL leader also urged Al Jazeera to stop airing such motivated, confusing and lopsided reports without being an associate of implementing the agenda of the anti-state evil forces.
