Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have reached 537,465 with the detection of 435 fresh infections over the previous 24 hours till Friday.
Besides, 7 new fatalities were reported from the virus, which is responsible for Covid-19, during the period, taking the national death toll to 8,182.
Of the new deceased, four are men and three are women. Among the total dead, 6,200 are men while 1,982 are women.
Currently, there are 46,859 active cases in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 507 more people recuperated from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours to take total recoveries in the country to 482,424.
The recovery rate also stands at 89.76 per cent.
During the period, 15,566 samples were tested in 206 labs across the country. With this, a total of 3,724,473 samples have so far been tested in the country.
The positivity rate -- an indicator of the prevalence of the disease -- was recorded at 2.79 per cent in the last 24 hours while the overall positivity rate is 14.45 per cent
Bangladesh has one of the lowest case fatality rates or CFR, which measures deaths among Covid-19 patients, at 1.52 per cent.
On Thursday, the country registered 13 deaths and 485 infections from coronavirus after testing 15,273 samples with a positivity rate of 3.18 per cent.
Meanwhile, coronavirus cases across the world have reached 105,416,002 as of Friday morning.
Besides, 2,294,412 people have so far died from the virus infections globally, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 25,883,534 patients, 25,922,306 are in mild condition while 106,833 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 77,238,056 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 27,273,890 and 466,988 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 10,803,533 and third highest fatalities of 154,862 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 228,883 and third highest cases of 9,397,769.
