Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam on Monday said the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine will be given after two months instead of one month into the first shot.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters at the DGHS at noon.

The DGHS chief said the vaccine recipients who were given dates for taking their second doses after one month will be notified about their new schedules through an SMS.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed on Monday took their first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

They received the jab at the Central Police Lines Hospital in the capital.

Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division Mostafa Kamal Uddin and other senior police officials also took the vaccine.

Speaking on the occasion, the home minister said many criticised over the vaccine. "However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave them a befitting reply bringing the vaccine. All the people are now getting the jab."

He also urged all to receive the vaccine to free the country from coronavirus.
