The government has given state honour to 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar when Eid-e-Miladunnabi is observed marking the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh).

A notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam was issued on Monday in this regard.

As per the notification, the national flag will be hoisted at all government and private buildings and offices as well as Bangladesh missions abroad on the day when Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be observed.

On the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar in 570, Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Makkah with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day.

The day is a holy one to Muslims. They observe the day as Eid-e-Miladunnabi every year.
