Al Jazeera documentary: Sami among four sued

A case has been filed with a Dhaka court against four people, including Zulkarnain Saer Khan alias Sami, the main character in the Al Jazeera documentary on Bangladesh, on charge of conspiracy against the country.

Advocate Moshiur Malek, executive president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asheque Imam on Wednesday.

The three other accused are Director General of Al Jazeera channel Mostefa Souag, journalist David Bergman and Editor-in-Chief of Netra News Tasneem Khalil.

An allegation of airing false and fabricated information was brought against the accused about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the army chief.

Moshiur Malek said a conspiracy was hatched making derogatory remarks about the prime minister and the army chief. “People were made confused through false and fabricated information which is tantamount to sedition.”
