Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said BNP is manifesting great skills in spreading propaganda and creating rumours against the government and the constitutional institutions.
He made the remarks while speaking at a virtual press conference from his official residence.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said BNP set the record of voterless lopsided election in the country’s history. “It makes us laugh when BNP talks about people’s right to vote, election system and Election Commission.”
Pointing to BNP leaders, he said the Aziz commission was the most subservient and controversial one in the country’s election system.
“BNP had created the record of irregularities through the farcical February 15, 1996 election and Magura by-polls. So, BNP leaders should see their faces in the mirror before going for any criticism,” Quader said.
Mentioning that the Election Commission is a constitutional institution and its responsibility is to hold fair and participatory elections, he said Awami League’s responsibility is to extend cooperation to it as a political party.
